We don’t certify printed parts as food-safe. If a finger or pad touches produce, say so and we discuss material and testing with you.

Why 3D print gripper fingers instead of moulding them?

There is no tooling, so changing a finger design costs only the reprint. Printing two or three finger variants to test side by side is normal, and once one works, the same file can be reprinted as field spares whenever you need more.

FAQ

Common questions

Who makes 3D-printed parts for harvest robots in Australia?

Formada3D prints parts for agricultural and harvest robots to order in Melbourne and ships Australia-wide: soft TPU 95A fin-ray style fingers and pads, camera and sensor housings, brackets, cable guides and field spares. STL files get an instant quote from A$8 at formada3d.com/quote.

What material is used for soft gripper fingers that pick fruit?

TPU 95A, a flexible filament, for soft and compliant fin-ray style fingers and pads. PETG is used for the rigid finger mounts and adapters. We don’t certify printed parts as food-safe, so tell us if a part touches produce.

What tolerances can you hold?

Plan on about ±0.2–0.3 mm on most FDM features. Holes and slots print slightly undersize, so for bearings, press fits and mating parts tell us the fit you need and we design in the clearance or print a fit-test piece first.

How much does it cost?

Our instant quote prices by estimated material weight: A$0.15/g up to 100 g, A$0.18/g from 100 to 300 g and A$0.22/g beyond, from A$8 a job. A business minimum may apply to B2B jobs; we confirm the full price, including any minimum, before anything is printed.

How fast can you turn parts around?

We reply to custom enquiries within 24 hours. Most jobs are printed and shipped in 3–5 days depending on size; for larger quantities we confirm timing with the quote.

Do you ship, or can we pick up?

Everything is shipped from our Melbourne workshop: AU $10 (express $15), free in Australia over $100, NZ $15, US $20, international $25. We don’t offer pickup.

Will you sign an NDA?

Yes, NDAs are available on request. Say so in your enquiry and we sort it out before you send any files.
