Broken plastic part? We'll print a new one.
Knobs, clips, brackets, covers and spares that are no longer sold. Send us a photo, the old part or its measurements: we measure and model a replacement from scratch, print a fit coupon first if the fit is tight, then 3D print the part in our Melbourne workshop and ship it Australia-wide.
Which broken parts can we replace?
Small, non-safety plastic parts from around the home, workshop, office and car interior. If the original is plastic and does a light job, we can usually model and print a stronger one.
Knobs and dials
Control knobs, dials and caps with a cracked or worn shaft hole. We match the shaft shape (round, D-flat or splined) and print a fit coupon first if it's tight.
Clips and catches
Snap clips, latches, cable and panel clips, battery-door catches. Clips that flex every day go in PETG, not PLA.
Brackets and mounts
Shelf supports, mounting brackets, hinge blocks and holders for light-duty, non-safety uses.
Covers and caps
Battery covers, end caps, vent covers, blanking plates and trim pieces.
Feet, bumpers and grips
Rubber-like TPU feet, bumpers, door stops and handle grips that have perished or gone missing.
Discontinued spares
Plastic parts the maker no longer sells. Send the old part or good photos with measurements and we model a new one.
Drawings are illustrations, not customer parts. We copy the shape of your own broken part for your repair; we don't put makers' names or logos on the parts.

Use Request a quote on our quote page and add photos (with a ruler or tape in shot), your measurements and what the part does. Already have an STL or STEP file? Upload it for an instant price.
We measure and model
We reply within 1 business day with a price and timing, or with questions. If the photos aren't enough we may ask you to post the broken part; we email the postal details once the job is agreed. We model the part from scratch to your measurements.
Fit coupon, if needed
Where a fit is critical (a shaft hole, a snap tab, a hinge pin) we print a small fit coupon of just that feature first, so you can check it on the real thing before we print the whole part.
We print and ship
Printed to order in our Melbourne workshop and shipped tracked. Most prints are dispatched in 3–5 business days after you confirm.
Hardware is not included: reuse the screws, springs, magnets or metal inserts from your original part, or we tell you the size to buy.
Which material should a replacement part be?
We pick the material from where the part lives and what it does, and tell you why in the quote. Heat figures are the makers' datasheet heat deflection values for the raw material; a printed part can soften sooner. See the materials guide for the full data.
| Material | Availability | Softens at | Good for | Avoid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PETG | In stock | About 69 °C | Most repair spares: clips, brackets, covers and parts that get wet. Tougher than PLA. | Loads above about 65 °C |
| PLA | In stock | About 57 °C | Indoor covers, caps and trim that stay cool and don't flex. | Hot cars, sunny windows, clips that flex again and again |
| TPU 95A | In stock | Not rated by the maker | Rubber-like feet, bumpers, pads, grips and seals. | Rigid or load-bearing parts, tight fits |
| ASA | Ordered in (+3–5 days) | About 100 °C | Outdoor parts in full sun, warmer spots, car exterior trim. | Very fine cosmetic detail |
| ABS | Ordered in (+3–5 days) | About 87 °C | Tough covers and housings near motors, car interior trim. | Long-term outdoor sun (use ASA) |
Honest limits
- Printed parts are strong, but a moulded part made for one exact job can be stronger in one direction. For a part that broke from load, we thicken it where we can and tell you if it's a risk.
- Heat: PLA softens at about 57 °C, PETG about 69 °C, ASA about 100 °C. Tell us where the part sits; parts near a cooktop, oven, heater or engine are checked case by case.
- Accuracy is about ±0.2–0.3 mm on most features. That's why tight fits get a fit coupon first.
- Food contact: our printed parts are not approved for food contact, so we don't print parts that touch food or drink.
Repairs we don't take
- Safety-critical parts: anything in brakes, steering, seatbelts, child seats or restraints, helmets, ladders, lifting or climbing gear, or where a failure could hurt someone.
- Parts that carry mains electricity, hold live terminals, or sit against heating elements, burners or exhausts.
- Gas, pressure or fuel-system parts, and medical or mobility-aid parts that bear a person's weight.
- Parts that touch food or drink. Our printed parts are not approved for food contact.
- Weapons or weapon parts, including imitation firearms, gel blasters and airsoft parts.

Safety & use
Suitable use. Replacement parts are made to your measurements as general-purpose parts for the use you describe to us. Check the fit and that the part is secure before use, and check it regularly for wear or damage. Not for safety-critical, food-contact or load-bearing safety use.
Custom parts are made to order for you, so change-of-mind returns don't apply; see our terms. Damage caused by misuse, modification or overloading isn't a fault in the product.
This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Can you 3D print a replacement for a broken plastic part?
Usually, yes. Send photos with a ruler in shot, your measurements and what the part does through Request a quote on business.formada3d.com/quote. We model a replacement from scratch, print a small fit coupon first if the fit is critical, then print the part in our Melbourne workshop and ship it Australia-wide.
How much does a replacement part cost?
Printing uses our instant-quote rates: by weight (A$0.15 per gram up to 100 g, A$0.18 per gram from 100 to 300 g, A$0.22 per gram above 300 g) plus A$1.00 per print hour, with an A$8 minimum per order. Measuring and modelling is quoted per job. We confirm the total, including any fit coupon and shipping, before anything is printed. If you already have an STL or STEP file you get an instant price.
How long does it take?
We reply to a request within 1 business day. Modelling time depends on the part and is stated in the quote. Printing is 3 to 5 business days after you confirm, or Express dispatch within 48 hours for 30 % more on jobs up to 20 print hours. A fit coupon adds one print-and-post round trip. ASA and ABS are ordered in and add 3 to 5 days.
Do I need to send you the broken part?
Not always. Clear photos with a ruler or tape in shot and a few caliper measurements are often enough. For complex or tight-fitting parts we may ask you to post it; we email the postal details once the job is agreed. We ship from Melbourne and don't offer pickup.
What is a fit coupon?
A small test print of only the part of the design that has to fit: a shaft hole, a snap tab, a hinge pin. You try it on the real thing and tell us whether to change it before we print the full part. It saves printing a whole part that is a fraction of a millimetre off.
Which repairs don't you take?
Safety-critical parts (brakes, steering, restraints, helmets, lifting or climbing gear), parts carrying mains electricity or sitting against heating elements, gas, pressure and fuel parts, load-bearing medical or mobility parts, food-contact parts, and weapon parts.
Are screws, springs or magnets included?
No. Hardware is not included. Reuse the screws, springs, magnets or metal inserts from your original part, or we tell you the size to buy.
Send us the broken part
Photos with a ruler in shot, a few measurements and a line on what the part does are enough to start.
