Snap-together cable drag chain for 2020 extrusion: 10 x 10, 15 x 15 and 25 x 15 mm inside
A cable carrier you can have in any length and in a matching colour, with end mounts made for 20-series extrusion. Each PETG link has two pins that snap into the holes of the next link; built-in stops let the chain bend one way only, from straight to about 33 degrees per link, and it cannot sag below straight. Three inside sizes (10 x 10, 15 x 15 and 25 x 15 mm) with bend radii from 39 mm, and start and end mounts with M5 T-nut slots at 20 mm pitch. Fits standard 2020, 2040 and 4040 extrusion. For light cable runs on 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters, plotters and lab gantries. Printed to order in our Melbourne workshop.
From A$8 for the pair of 2020 end mounts. Printed to order in Melbourne and shipped Australia-wide; we confirm the final price and lead time before anything is printed.

Order status. Moving part: the first order includes a free hinge coupon (one tongue, four forks at 0.10 / 0.20 / 0.30 / 0.40 mm clearance). Snap the tongue into each, tell us which one turns freely with little rattle, and we print your links to that fit.

Specifications: material, size and what it fits
| Spec | Detail |
|---|---|
| Material | PETG, 0.24 mm layers on a 0.6 mm nozzle, 3 walls, 5 % infill (the links are almost all wall), no supports. Any colour we stock |
| Sizes (inside W x H) | 10 x 10 mm: link 17 x 14 mm outside, 20 mm pitch, 39 mm bend radius, 2.2 g, about 50 links per metre. 15 x 15 mm: 23.6 x 19 mm outside, 26 mm pitch, 50 mm bend radius, 4.8 g, about 39 links per metre. 25 x 15 mm: 33.6 x 19.8 mm outside, 28 mm pitch, 54 mm bend radius, 6.0 g, about 36 links per metre |
| Joint | 4 mm pins (10 size) or 5 mm pins (15 and 25 sizes) with a lead-in chamfer, 0.30 mm hole clearance per side, 0.30 mm axial gap. Bend stop at about 33-35 degrees per link, straight stop at about -2 degrees, and the bending link never dips below the chain's base plane |
| End mounts | Fixed start mount (pins) and moving end mount (holes), each with a 46 mm tail plate and two M5 slots at 20 mm pitch (+-1.5 mm) for T-nuts in a 2020 slot |
| Fits | Standard 20-series aluminium extrusion: 2020, 2040 and 4040 faces, via M5 T-nuts. Any machine with a flat face you can drill for two M5 at 20 mm pitch |
| Hardware | Not included: 2 x M5 x 8 screws and T-nuts per mount |
| Assembly | Push the front pins of one link into the rear holes of the next; the outer plates flex out by 1.6-2 mm. Fit the start mount first and the end mount last. To take a link out, spread the outer plates with a flat screwdriver. A hinge-fit coupon (four clearances) comes free with the first order |

Who it's for
Builders of 3D printers, CNC routers, laser cutters and plotters, university and school robotics labs, and gantry and pick-and-place builders who want a chain with matched 2020 mounts in the size and colour they need.
Safety & use
Installation & use. Designed for the uses described on this page only. Fixings are not included: use the sizes listed, check they are tight before use, and check the parts regularly for wear or damage. Not for safety-critical or overhead load-bearing use. Damage caused by misuse, modification or overloading isn't a fault in the product.
Cable chain. For light cable runs on hobby and lab machines. Check the chain and its fixings regularly and keep hands clear of moving axes. Do not run it tighter than the stated bend radius, and keep PETG out of direct sun and away from heat (it softens near 70 degrees C).
This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Which size do I need?
Add up the cables you want to carry and leave room: 10 x 10 mm takes a few thin cables, 15 x 15 mm a typical printer or CNC axis bundle, 25 x 15 mm a bundle with a Bowden tube or thicker motor cables. Bend radius is 39, 50 or 54 mm, so check the space where the chain folds back on itself.
How does it mount?
Each kit has a fixed start mount and a moving end mount with a 46 mm tail plate and two M5 slots at 20 mm pitch. Use M5 T-nuts in the slot of 2020, 2040 or 4040 extrusion, or drill any flat face for two M5 holes 20 mm apart. Screws and T-nuts are not included.
Does it sag or over-bend?
No. Each link has a bend stop at about 33-35 degrees and a straight stop at about -2 degrees, so the chain lies flat on its base and folds only one way, and the bending link never dips below the plane the chain runs on.
How is the length set?
By link count: about 50, 39 or 36 links per metre for the three sizes. Order a 1 m kit and extra links, or tell us the length and we work it out; custom lengths are pro rata. Links snap together and come apart with a flat screwdriver.
What is the hinge coupon for?
Printed pin-in-hole fits vary with the printer, so the coupon has four fork clearances. Snap the tongue into each, pick the one that turns freely with little rattle, and we print your links to that clearance (one step looser for a long or heavily loaded chain).
