Action-camera riding mounts: handlebar (22.2-35 mm), seat rail, helmet, chin bar, drone-to-bike crossover, 1/4-20 adaptor

Action-camera mounts for riding, all with the common three-finger action-cam interface. The handlebar mount is a two-piece clamp for 25.4 mm or 35 mm bars; a soft TPU shim fits it to 22.2 mm or 31.8 mm bars and damps vibration, so it covers the four standard bicycle and motorcycle bar sizes. The seat-rail mount hangs a camera under the saddle from round 7 mm rails, at any rail spacing from 27 to 56 mm. The helmet and chin-bar bases have a curved underside made to your helmet's curve, using a free curvature gauge. The drone-to-bike crossover takes the tilt holder from our FPV mount, and the 1/4-20 adaptor puts a finger-mount camera on any tripod. Fits GoPro HERO-style, DJI Osmo Action-style and Insta360 cameras that use the finger interface. A$8 each, riding set A$18.95. Printed to order in PETG in our Melbourne workshop.

Black 3D printed action-camera mounts: two handlebar clamps with camera fingers (one with an orange TPU shim), a bar clamp holding an orange tilt holder, a tripod adaptor block, a seat-rail plate with two small rail caps, and curved helmet and chin-bar bases
Studio render: made to order, real photos coming: handlebar mounts (35 mm, and 25.4 mm with the TPU shim), drone-to-bike crossover with the FPV tilt holder, 1/4-20 tripod adaptor, seat-rail plate and caps, helmet and chin-bar bases. Bolts are standard hardware, not included.

Order status. Bar sizes and saddle rails are published standards. Two things are checked with free coupons before we print your mount: the finger gap (no camera maker publishes the finger drawing, so the coupon has 3.1, 3.3 and 3.5 mm gaps) and, for helmet and chin bases, your helmet's curve (a gauge card with four arcs). Tell us the snug gap and the best arc and we print to them.

Works with our FPV mount. The camera fingers are the same as on our adjustable FPV action-camera mount, and the drone-to-bike crossover takes that mount's tilt holder straight off the drone, camera and angle stops included. Need a different bar size, curve or a one-off adaptor? Ask for a quote or browse the parts catalogue.

What does it look like in use?

Renders are computer images of our own design, made from the same model we print. This family is made to order: real photos of our first prints are coming.

Who it's for

Mountain-bike, road and gravel riders, motorcycle and scooter riders, helmet-cam users, FPV pilots who also ride, and bike shops and clubs that need mounts in odd bar sizes.

Safety & use

Installation & use. Designed for the uses described on this page only. Fixings are not included: use the sizes listed, check they are tight before use, and check the parts regularly for wear or damage. Not for safety-critical or overhead load-bearing use. Damage caused by misuse, modification or overloading isn't a fault in the product.

Riding. Check every bolt and the camera thumbscrew before every ride, and use a camera tether. These mounts hold a camera only: they are not for structural or safety use and do not replace any part of your bike, motorcycle or helmet. Fit them where they cannot touch brakes, levers, cables, the steering lock or your knees. PETG softens near 70 degrees C, so do not leave a mount on a hot engine or exhaust.

Helmets. The helmet and chin-bar bases stick on with mounting tape and are fitted at your own risk. Follow your helmet maker's advice on fitting accessories; a mount on a helmet can change how it behaves in a crash. Never drill or modify a helmet to fit one.

Drones. When the crossover holder goes back on a drone, the drone rules on our FPV mount page apply: check every screw before each flight and keep it clear of the propellers.

Small parts. Nuts, bolts and the shims are small parts: keep them away from young children. Hardware is not included; use the sizes listed.

FAQ

Common questions

Which handlebars does the handlebar mount fit?

Bars of 22.2, 25.4, 31.8 or 35 mm where you clamp it. The clamp comes in a 25.4 mm and a 35 mm size; a soft TPU shim fits the 25.4 clamp to 22.2 mm (7/8 inch) bars and the 35 clamp to 31.8 mm bars. That covers BMX, older mountain-bike and most motorcycle bars (22.2), upright and 1 inch bars (25.4), oversize road and mountain-bike bars (31.8) and 35 mm bars. Measure the bar where the mount goes, which is often thinner than at the stem.

Which cameras fit these mounts?

Cameras and adapters that use the common action-cam finger interface: GoPro HERO-style and DJI Osmo Action-style cameras, and Insta360 cameras on their finger adapter. No camera maker publishes the finger drawing, so a free coupon with 3.1, 3.3 and 3.5 mm gaps comes first; clip your camera on and we print your mount at the gap that is snug. For cameras with only a 1/4-20 thread, use a finger adapter.

How does the seat-rail mount fit my saddle?

It clamps the two round 7 mm saddle rails, which is the standard rail size. A plate goes under the rails and a small cap goes over each rail; the caps slide along one long slot, so any rail spacing from 27 to 56 mm fits. The camera hangs under the saddle facing back. It is not for carbon or oval rails, or for saddles with a single central rail.

Which helmets does the helmet base fit?

The base has a curved underside that we make to your helmet's curve. A free gauge card with four arcs (70, 95, 120 and 150 mm radius) comes first: hold each arc against the helmet where the mount will go and tell us the one with the smallest gap. The chin-bar base works the same way across the chin bar. Both stick on with outdoor double-sided mounting tape, which is not included.

What is the drone-to-bike crossover?

It is the handlebar clamp with two ears that take the tilt holder from our FPV action-camera mount. Undo the holder's two M3 bolts on the drone, bolt it into the crossover on the bike, and the camera keeps its 0 to 40 degree angle stops. One camera and holder can then move between drone and bike in a couple of minutes.

How does the 1/4-20 tripod adaptor work?

A standard 1/4-20 hex nut slides into a pocket in the side of the block. The tripod screw passes through the floor into the nut, and the three camera fingers are on top. We use a metal nut instead of printed threads because a printed thread wears quickly. The nut is not included.

Are these mounts safe for riding?

We make no safety claims. They hold a camera and are not for structural or safety use. Check every bolt and the camera thumbscrew before every ride, use a camera tether, and keep the mount clear of brakes, levers and cables. Helmet and chin bases are fitted at your own risk; follow your helmet maker's advice on accessories.

What hardware do I need?

Hardware is not included. A handlebar mount or crossover needs two M4 x 14 socket head bolts and two M4 nuts. The seat-rail mount needs four M4 x 16 socket head bolts, four M4 washers and four M4 nuts. The camera needs an M5 action-cam thumbscrew and a nyloc nut, and the tripod adaptor one 1/4-20 hex nut. All are standard hardware-store sizes.

How do I order?

Use Get a quote and choose Request a quote, naming the mounts, your bar size, the rail spacing if it is unusual, the colour and the quantity. We send the free coupons first if you need them, then confirm the price and lead time before anything is printed.
