Tilting depth-camera mount for 2020 extrusion (fits RealSense D435 / D435i and D455 rear mounting points)

A two-part PETG mount that holds a depth camera on 20-series aluminium extrusion at any angle from about 30 degrees down to 60 degrees up. The base bolts to a 2020 slot with two M5 T-nut screws; the camera bracket screws to the camera's two rear mounting points and pivots on one M5 bolt between the base's lugs, and a nyloc nut holds the angle. Two brackets: 2 x M3 at 45 mm for the RealSense D435 / D435i and 2 x M4 at 95 mm for the D455, from the maker's published datasheet drawings. For ROS mobile robots, eye-to-hand arm cells and lab rigs. Printed to order in our Melbourne workshop.

Black 3D printed tilt mount: a slotted base with two pivot lugs and gussets, holding a flat camera bracket plate on an M5 pivot
Studio render: made to order, real photos coming: the base with the 45 mm bracket, in black PETG.

Order status. Every camera dimension comes from the maker's published D400 datasheet, and the tilt joint is a plain clamped bolt joint, so there is no fit coupon. Use the listed screw lengths: longer screws can damage the camera.

What does it look like in use?

Renders are computer images of our own design, made from the same model we print. This family is made to order: real photos of our first prints are coming.

Who it's for

ROS 2 mobile-robot builders, arm cells with an eye-to-hand camera, university labs and integrators who mount depth cameras on 2020 extrusion.

Safety & use

Installation & use. Designed for the uses described on this page only. Fixings are not included: use the sizes listed, check they are tight before use, and check the parts regularly for wear or damage. Not for safety-critical or overhead load-bearing use. Damage caused by misuse, modification or overloading isn't a fault in the product.

Robots. Powered joints can pinch and move unexpectedly. Keep fingers, hair and cables clear while powered, check the full range of motion by hand after fitting, and use the screw lengths listed on this page. PETG softens near 70 degrees C. A printed bracket is for hobby, education, research and prototype loads.

Camera. Use M3 x 6 (D435) or M4 x 8 (D455) screws only: longer ones go past the camera's maximum insertion depth. The camera's back is a heat path; for hot rooms or long runs ask for PETG-CF or ASA, and check the pivot nut is tight before driving the robot.

This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

FAQ

Common questions

Which depth cameras does it fit?

The RealSense D435 and D435i (2 x M3 rear mounting points 45 mm apart) with the 45 mm bracket, and the D455 (2 x M4, 95 mm apart) with the 95 mm bracket. Both sets of numbers are from the maker's D400 datasheet. Other cameras with two rear holes can be done from their drawing.

How far does it tilt?

From about 30 degrees down to 60 degrees up: -31 to +60 degrees with the 45 mm bracket and -25 to +60 with the 95 mm bracket, checked in 1-degree steps in the model. Loosen the M5 pivot nut, set the angle and tighten it.

How does it mount to the robot?

Two M5 slots 40 mm apart on the base take M5 x 10 screws into T-nuts in a 2020 or 2040 slot. Screws and T-nuts are not included.

Which screws go into the camera?

M3 x 6 for the D435 / D435i and M4 x 8 for the D455. The counterbores are sized so those screws stop short of the camera's maximum insertion depth (3 mm and 4 mm). Do not use longer screws.

How do I order?

Use Get a quote and choose Request a quote, naming the bracket (45 mm or 95 mm or both) and quantity. We confirm the price and lead time before anything is printed.
