Vertical-farm parts: 2 and 3 inch net pots, tray clips, drip-line holders and a crop-imaging camera arm

Small printed parts for vertical farms, grow racks and hydroponic towers. The 2 and 3 inch net pots are black and opaque, so light cannot reach the roots and algae cannot grow, and they seat in our tower-kit collars and Kratky jar lids at the depth those were designed for. The H-shaped tray clip joins two tray rims so a row of trays cannot drift apart. The drip-line holder snaps onto 13 mm poly and holds a 4 mm micro-tube end pointing straight down into a pot. The crop-imaging camera arm clamps round a 90 mm or 110 mm tower pipe and holds a camera on a standard 1/4-20 screw, or a 25 x 24 mm camera board, on joints that lock in 15 degree steps. Net pots from A$32.95 for 8, camera arm from A$26.95. Printed to order in PETG (ASA for sun) in our Melbourne workshop.

Black 3D printed 2 inch and 3 inch slotted net pots, a black pipe clamp with a jointed arm and camera plate with orange knobs, a green-tinted camera board plate, small white tray clips and white drip-line holders
Studio render: made to order, real photos coming: the camera arm on its 90 mm pipe clamp (1/4-20 head), the camera-board head, 2 and 3 inch net pots, two tray clips and two drip-line holders. Bolts are standard hardware, not included.

Order status. Made to order from renders; real photos come with the first prints. Pipe and net-pot sizes come from published sizes; tray rim thickness and micro-tube outside diameter are not published, so free fit coupons come with the first order for the clips and drip holders.

Works with our hydroponics parts. The net pots seat in the hydroponic tower kit collars and the Kratky jar lids; the drip-line holder takes the micro-tube from the drip manifold; the camera arm clamps to the same 90 / 110 mm pipe. Also in the range: NFT channel end caps and the pH / EC sensor enclosure. Same camera joints as our adjustable tablet mount.

What does it look like in use?

Renders are computer images of our own design, made from the same model we print. This family is made to order: real photos of our first prints are coming.

Who it's for

Indoor and container vertical farms, grow-rack and hydroponic-tower growers, schools and research groups that photograph crops, and anyone running our tower kit or Kratky lids who wants matching opaque net pots.

Safety & use

Installation & use. Designed for the uses described on this page only. Fixings are not included: use the sizes listed, check they are tight before use, and check the parts regularly for wear or damage. Not for safety-critical or overhead load-bearing use. Damage caused by misuse, modification or overloading isn't a fault in the product.

Water and food. No printed part here is certified food safe. Our PETG is not a food-contact grade filament, so we make no food-contact claim for these parts; they hold roots, media, tube and cameras, not food. If a farm needs food-contact paperwork for a part, ask us: the only filament we hold food-contact test paperwork for is a PLA (tested on printed samples), and PLA softens in warm nutrient solution, so we do not recommend it for net pots. Rinse and clean with mild detergent or dilute hydrogen peroxide, not a dishwasher, and replace a part that turns cloudy, chalky or cracked.

Sun and heat. PETG is for indoor farms, grow tents and shade. For a greenhouse or full sun, order the same parts in ASA (UV-stable). Keep all parts below about 70 degrees C.

Camera arm. For cameras and camera boards up to 1 kg. Tighten both clamp bolts and every joint knob before you let go of the camera, and check them again each week. Keep the clamp below the first collar or above the top collar, and keep camera cables and power away from water. Not for overhead mounting above people.

Small parts. Clips, drip holders, knobs and nuts are small parts: keep them away from young children. Hardware is not included; use the sizes listed.

This doesn't affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

FAQ

Common questions

Which holes do the net pots fit?

The 2 inch pot sits in a 51 to 51.6 mm hole: the collars of our hydroponic tower kit and our Kratky lids for wide-mouth, regular-mouth and Fowlers size 3 jars. The 3 inch pot sits in a 73 to 75 mm hole, such as our Fowlers size 4 Kratky lid. Both are sized from the common 2 inch and 3 inch net-cup dimensions, so they also suit most lids and channels cut for standard cups.

Why use printed net pots instead of standard cups?

They are black and opaque, so light cannot reach the roots and algae cannot grow in the pot, and they are thick enough to reuse many times. Their lip is a 45-degree cone that centres the pot in its hole. If you only need cheap single-use cups, standard plastic net cups cost less.

Are the parts food safe?

We make no food-safe claim. Our PETG is not a food-contact grade filament. These parts hold roots, growing media, tube and cameras, not food. The only filament we hold food-contact test paperwork for is a PLA, which softens in warm nutrient solution, so we do not recommend it for net pots.

Which tube sizes does the drip-line holder fit?

It snaps onto 13 mm LDPE poly, which measures 15.1 to 15.7 mm outside, and holds a 4 mm micro-tube. Micro-tube outside diameters vary (4/6 mm and 4/7 mm are both common), so there are two versions and a free coupon to check your tube first.

What does the camera arm clamp to and what cameras fit?

The clamp fits 90 mm DN90 stormwater pipe or 110 mm DN100 DWV pipe, the pipes used in our tower kit. Mount it below the first collar or above the top one. The standard head takes any camera with a 1/4-20 tripod thread on a 1/4-20 x 1/2 inch screw; the board head takes 25 x 24 mm camera boards with four M2 holes 21 x 12.5 mm apart. Cameras up to 1 kg.

Can the parts go outdoors or in a greenhouse?

Yes, in ASA. PETG suits indoor farms, grow tents and shade; ASA is UV-stable for greenhouses and full sun. Ask for ASA when you order.

What hardware do I need?

Hardware is not included. The camera clamp needs 2 x M5 x 30 bolts, nuts and washers; the joints need M5 x 35, M5 x 30 and M5 x 25 hex bolts with nuts and washers; a camera needs one 1/4-20 x 1/2 inch screw, and a camera board 4 x M2 x 12 screws and nuts. The pots, clips and drip holders need nothing else.

How do I order?

Use Get a quote and choose Request a quote, naming the parts (net pot size, clip or holder pack, camera arm pipe size and head), the material (PETG or ASA) and the quantity. We confirm the price and lead time before anything is printed.
